MTLEY CRE Guitarist Working On New Music With MARILYN MANSON Bassist
September 8, 2011MTLEY CRE guitarist Mick Marsrevealed via Twitter earlier today (Thursday, September 8) that he was in the studio working on new music with bassist Twiggy Ramirez (real name: Jeordie White) of MARILYN MANSON.
Vocalist Andy Biersack of Los Angeles theatrical rockers BLACK VEIL BRIDES told "Talking Metal" in July that he collaborated with Mars on a song that is expected to appear on the MTLEY CRE axeman's upcoming solo album. He said, "It's something that's been a work of his for awhile and hopefully in time he will complete it. But I will say one thing: Mick Mars is one of the greatest songwriters I've ever met in my life and had the pleasure to work with. I can't wait to hear his full album. In terms of this record, he's really worked with the heavy hitters in the rock and metal industry. So to be a part of that is a great honor and I can't wait to hear the completed record."
Mars told the Dallas Observer in June that he recently jammed with legendary jazz guitarist George Benson, and the two found that they had a lot in common namely that they're both fans of Wes Montgomery. The session so affected Mars that he is considering releasing a solo effort of R&B, soul, and blues songs. However, he was no rush to enter the studio according to the guitarist, it will happen "if and when I find the right people." He added, "I found the right drummer, and I've asked Macy Gray if she'd like to guest on it. It's not going to be anything like MTLEY CRE, but a lot of different cultural beats. I call it 'pure music,'" citing the work of Carlos Santana as an example of what might come.
Mick Mars' signature guitar sound has become a staple of American music and Mars has been deemed one of the world's greatest guitar players from critics around the globe to many recording artists and musicians who credit Mars as an influence, which include such notables as Slash, Joe Perry from AEROSMITH, Carmine Appice, Alice Cooper, BUCKCHERRY, and Marilyn Manson, just to name a few.
